Field Notes
Wake Invocation
A bedside ritual for hard starts. Use it when mornings become negotiations before your feet hit the floor.
Use this when Slumber Troll is strongest in the doorway between sleep and motion. The point is not to feel ready. The point is to move before the argument gets louder.
The ritual
- Place the alarm far enough away that your body has to stand.
- Prepare one command phrase the night before.
- Turn on light, water, and one body cue immediately.
- Send one accountability signal before you sit back down.
- Name the first action of the day before your brain opens side quests.
Why it helps
- It reduces morning decision load.
- It uses body cues instead of waiting for motivation.
- It makes the first movement feel smaller and more scripted.
Use it when
You know what comes next, but your body is still trying to negotiate with the blankets.
The goal is momentum first, not feeling fully convinced before you move.
